The Regional Executive Director of the Department of Environment Office 6 has urged the participation of the various sectors in the implementation of the National Greening Program of the government.
DENR Regional Executive Director Dr. Adeluisa G. Siapno stressed that, “the DENR is very dynamic on its campaign to endure the objectives of the National Greening Program.”
She added that the involvement of the communities will further fast track the achievement of its target by 2016.
Siapno emphasized that it is imperative that the different sectors of the community will not only be spirited on sowing the seedlings but also heedful in sustaining the growth of these plants.
The DENR Region 6 has accomplished 71.3 percent among its NGP-funded programs through its field offices and is encouraging more sectors to participate in this noble to cause in preserving the environment.
Recently, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, together with the Aluyan Farmers Association (ALUFA) conducted a simultaneous tree planting activities at Brgy Caduhaan, along the Sicaba River.
Cadiz CENR Officer Andres Untal identified a total of 54,000 seedlings of Bacan, Udling, Mandulaonon, Mangium, Coffee species that were utilized in the said activity.
The activity was participated by 81 planters from ALUFA, headed by Solitario Malinao and students from Aluyan Elemenetary School.
NGP is one of the priority programs of the national government in coordination with the different sectors of the society to plant 1 billion trees to an approximate area of 1.5 M hectares within a period of six years, from 2011 until 2016.*
