SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Energy (DOE) will be in the province on June 21 to inspect downstream oil industry firms and ensure their compliance to the rules and regulations governing them.
In a news release, Antonio Labios, director of DOE in the Visayas, said the DOE will spearhead a focused inspection and monitoring of the downstream oil industry firms in the province.
Labios said the DOE will inspect liquid petroleum products (LPP) retail outlets and LPG establishments to ensure they comply with the trade rules and regulations.
He said the visit will also be an opportunity for stakeholders, especially businessmen, to discuss their concerns with DOE and for the DOE to address them.
Expertise of partner agencies like Department of Trade and Industry, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Science and Technology, and local government units will be tapped to enhance public awareness.
The DOE will also encourage LGU participation in the implementation of DOE rules and regulations pertaining to downstream oil industry.
Labios noted the importance of increased public awareness on DOE guidelines on the use and retail of petroleum products for their own safety and consumer guidance.*PIA
