An Ilonggo graduate of Philippine Military Academy Class 1993 is the new battalion commander of the 3rd Infantry Division’s 47th Infantry Battalion in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Designated as the 22nd commander of the 47th IB, Lt. Col. Enriqueto Deocadez, was born in Banga, South Cotabato but is now residing in Alimodian, Iloilo.

Deocadez graduated with a BS Electrical Engineering degree from the Western Institute of Technology; Project Planning, Development and Management course from Asian Institute of Management; and Masters of Training and Development at Griffith University, Queensland, Australia.

He succeeded Lt. Col. Rodrigo Sosmeña who is projected to occupy a higher position here in 3ID.

From 1993 to 2005, he spent his career in Visayas as Company Commander of 3ID’s 12th Infantry Battalion and 3rd Military Intelligence Battalion.

Prior to his designation, Deocadez was the Brigade Executive Officer of 301st Brigade in Camp Hernandez, Dingle, Iloilo and the concurrent head of the Task Group Boracay.

“The designation of Ltc Deocadez to this vital position is a manifestation of his hard work, dedication and attention to his duties throughout his career. I trust in his ability to sustain the implementation of the Army’s Transformation Roadmap and pursue our relentless effort to win the peace here in the region,” said Maj. Gen. Jose Mabanta, Jr, 3ID commanding officer.

Meanwhile, Deocadez assured the local government units and agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) of his full support for the five-year Peace and Development Program of the province of Negros Occidental through active advocacy and mobilization of the multi-sectoral Peace and Development teams in the City and Municipalities.

He also reminded the 47th IB personnel to remain steadfast on their mandate of protecting the people.

In addition, Deocadez said that they have laid out plans to ensure honest, orderly and peaceful elections.*
