ROXAS CITY, Capiz – More than 4,000 persons died in Capiz last year, the National Statistics Office disclosed.
In a special report released recently, NSO records show that the number of deaths accounted for 2011 reached 4,497, lower by 2.2 percent compared to the 4,597 deaths in 2010.
On the average of 13 individuals died everyday in Capiz last year, Capiz NSO Acting Provincial head Joreto Lope disclosed.
Lope said the highest death occurrence registering at 1,496 or 33.3 percent of the total deaths in Capiz was recorded in Roxas City.
He stressed that there was also a 1.8 percent increase in the number of deaths last year compared to the 1,469 recorded deaths in 2010.
The other towns in the province with higher registered deaths last year were Pontevedra and Mambusao with 338 and 316 deaths, respectively, he added.
Sapian town registered the lowest deaths last year with only 122 followed by Sigma with 127 death occurrences but with the highest drop in percentage of 21.1 percent.
Earlier, the NSO reported that some 25,682 babies were born in Capiz last year with an average birth occurrence of about three babies being born per hour.
Lope said the highest of live birth occurrence registering at 5,364 or 20.7 percent of the total live births in the province was also recorded in Roxas City
The special NSO release is a compilation of data based on the registered certificates forwarded by the Local Civil Registry Offices in the 16 towns and a city in Capiz, he said.*PIA
