Four earth shocks jolted the province of Negros Occidental, particularly in the northernmost town of Hinobaan and Sipalay including the island-province of Guimaras.Â
In an earthquake bulletin issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvocs), a magnitude of 5.0 shook Sipalay in southern Negros Occidental and Guimaras.
The Philvocs recorded the earthquake at about 9:08 p.m. Sunday night with its epicenter 25-km. southwest of Nueva Valencia in Guimaras province.Â
The Philvocs said the earthquake was also felt in Sipalay, Negros Occidental at Intensity 3.
A mild quake also jolted Iloilo City with a magnitude recorded at Intensity 2.Â
Barely five minutes later, Magnitude 4.1 earthquake jolted Sipalay anew followed by magnitude 3.7 that was registered at about 9:40 p.m.
The southernmost town of Hinoba-an also experienced magnitude 3.5 earthquake recorded at about 9:33 p.m. Sunday.Â
Phivolcs said the earthquakes were tectonic in origin, meaning they were caused by the movements of the earth's crust.*PNA
