The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) reiterated anew that carrying of gun replicas and knives are prohibited under the election gun ban.

In a news release, the PRO 6 reported that an adult caught carrying a replica of .45 pistol is now detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 4 after he was arrested Sunday.

Romeo Golen, police said, was arrested when members of the Iloilo City Public Safety Company responded to information that a man, who was believed to be under the influence of liquor, was seen with a gun tucked on his waist.

Aside from a gun replica, a 14-inch stainless knife was recovered from Golen.

In Western Visayas, two persons were already arrested for carrying gun/grenade replicas.

In February 7, Ronald Batislaong was arrested for carrying a grenade replica in Barangay Sto. Niño Norte, Arevalo, Iloilo City.

A case for violation of gun ban has already been filed against him.

Meanwhile, to date, the PRO 6 recorded 72 violators of gun ban since it was implemented in January 13.*
