Authorities alarmed as drug
suspects are nabbed near school
Officials of La Paz National High School were alarmed after two drug pushers - Damian Catalluña and Ronnie Law-a - were nabbed by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-6 in a buy bust operation outside the school gate last Tuesday.
Because of the incident, the school’s Board of Discipline conducted a special meeting among its staff and students to warn them of the possible proliferation of drugs in the school.
They also scheduled a meeting with the Parents-Teachers Association and its 2,500 students to warn them against illegal drugs.
Because of its proximity to the school, “there is a possibility that students from the school are among their clients,” Atty. Ronnie Delicana, OIC-director of PDEA-6 said.
Delicana said that the PDEA-6 has been conducting drug symposiums in various schools to tell students to stay away from drugs.
MINORS IN DRUG TRADE
Recently, the PDEA also confirmed there are an increasing number of minors used as pushers and runners in the illegal drugs trade in the region.*
