The Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) continues its preparation of facilities, equipment and beautification of the Villareal Stadium as the main venue of Capiz in hosting the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRRA) Meet 2013 on February 18 to 22.
The biggest stadium in Western Visayas, the Villareal Stadium is capable of holding various sporting events such as athletics, swimming, soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, sepak takraw, tennis, archery, among others.
PGSO chief Eduardo Apa-ap said “the facilities included for maintenance and thorough checking are the cottages and diving boards of swimming pool, some damage parts of rubberized track oval, comfort rooms and repainting of all bleachers inside of the Villareal Stadium.”
Last January 22, the WVRAA 2013 Management Committee convened and Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco directed the PGSO to prioritize the enhancement and repair of facilities of the stadium.
Meanwhile, the PGSO turned over January 30 new sports equipment for the use in the training of the Capiceño athletes in preparation for the regional meet.
The PGSO newly-procured equipment are balls for various events, helmets, pads, gloves, body protectors, shuttlecock, nets, rackets, stop clocks, gum shields, etc.
Apa-ap said the PGSO heeded to the requests of the coaches to ensure the standard and quality of sports equipment.
He said the second batch of equipment to be used in the meet is to arrive soon.*
