Six persons were arrested in separate police operations for collecting bets for illegal numbers gamed.

Francisco Sian, 61, married, of Purok Active, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City was arrested for collecting bets for jai alai on Jan. 23, 2013 in the evening by the members of the Bacolod City Police Station 3.

Confiscated from his possession were tally sheets, jai alai tipster with codename “Fronton,” and bet money amounting to P63.00.

Stephen Magbanua, 27, single, of Block 56, Lot 26, San Dionisio Subdivision,  Barangay Granada, Bacolod City was arrested in the afternoon of Jan. 27, 2013 afternoon by the members of the BCPS 5.

Hermogenes Castillano, 64, married, of Purok Kasilingan, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City at Purok United Roadside was arrested in the afternoon of Jan. 23, 2013 for collecting bets for jai-alai.

Confiscated from his possession were tally sheets, jai alai tipster and bet money of P21.00.

Rex Gargoles, 18, single, was also arrested at Purok Paghidaet, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City on Jan. 23, 2013 for collecting bets for jai-alai.

Confiscated from his possession were tally sheets, jai alai tipster and bet money amounting to P75.00.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City Police Office anti-gambling task force arrested Joemarie Cañares, 40, married, at Purok Maabi-abihun, Barangay Estefania on Jan. 24, 2013 for collecting jai alai bets.

Alberto Tan, 48, married, of 6th St., Barangay 7, Bacolod City was arrested on Jan. 27, 2013 at Lopez Jaena St., Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City by the members of the BCPS 4.

He is detained at BCPS 4 lock–up cell.*
