Israel Virgenes of Bangon Pilipinas group is the 33rd senatorial candidate in the May 2013 elections after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) approved his candidacy.

Virgenes’ political party is affiliated with the Jesus is Lord Movement and its founder Bro. Eddie Villanueva.

Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. said the commissioners voted unanimously in favor of Virgenes as he is capable of waging a nationwide campaign.

Virgines was late in filing his certificate of candidacy (COC) last October after he was caught in heavy traffic on his way to the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila. He eventually filed a petition asking the poll body to approve his COC.*GMA News
