Angelene Arangco, a Grade V pupil of Rizal Elementary School in Bacolod City who represented Western Visayas was declared champion in the elementary category of the recently concluded National Road Safety Poster Making Contest. 

Department of Education 6 Resource Mobilization Special Programs and Project’s Division Chief and Information Officer Dr. Eden D. Deriada said Arangco received P50,000 cash, a trip for two to Hongkong, an STI scholarship and other awards during the awarding ceremony held at the DepEd Central Office in Manila that capped the celebration of the World Day of Remembrance on November 18, 2012. 

Arangco will be accompanied by her coach, Rosario Villanueva in her trip to Hongkong in January. She also received P10,000 as the regional winner. 

The poster-making contest aims to increase awareness and level of involvement among students and teachers in road safety related activities in the school and community.*PIA
