The Bureau of Internal Revenue, under its Oplan Kandado program has padlocked Tuki Convenience Store since Monday for failing to declare its exact earnings for the year 2011 and on the first and second quarter of 2012.
The store is located at the Smallville Complex in Mandurriao district.
BIR Oplan Kandado is an intensive campaign that seeks to padlock businesses that have unpaid tax dues, as well as those who are engaged in illegal practices such as failure to register, understatement of taxable sales by more than 30 percent and the refusal to issue receipts.
It was also believed that the establishment did not issue official receipts to its customers.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Director Marieto Valerio clarified that the closure of the establishment has nothing to do with the shooting incident over the weekend.
Three persons, Mark Flaviano, Alvin Estrologo and Eldy Bolohabo, all of legal age, were wounded after an unidentified man fired inside the store.
According to the security guard, it is possible that Flaviano was the main target.
Recovered on the crime scene were seven empty shells of 45-calibre pistol.
The victims were rushed to different hospitals and are now in stable condition.*
