A man allegedly held his partner hostage after a marital squabble yesterday afternoon at Brgy. Rizal Pala-Pala, Iloilo City.
But Chester Porras, 33, peacefully went with police authorities following a very short standoff.
Police believed that the suspect might have taken his live-in partner hostage thinking that he might be harmed by other persons.
Prior to the incident, Porras and Ester, 32, were reportedly having marital spat for three days already.
The man allegedly accused his partner of having affairs with other men.
Reports said the daily physical and verbal quarrel prompted Brgy. Capt. Myrna Rey to settle the couple's differences. During the settlement, Porras agreed that he would be brought to the police if he hurts Ester again.
But yesterday morning, reports said the couple had another squabble.
Ester allegedly shouted for help that caused his neighbor to call for police assistance.
When policemen responded, Porras took the badly-beaten Ester hostage.
The suspect is presently detained at the lock-up cell of Iloilo City Police Station 1 for proper disposition of his case.*
