Janitor Mike Sombilla was doing his usual cleaning of the women's comfort room of the Iloilo Supermart-Molo branch last Tuesday when he saw a fetus inside a garbage can there.

Prior to that, Jose Camandero, a village watchman cum volunteer traffic auxiliary, said that he saw a young woman, around 18 to 19 years old, with blood stain at the back of her pants walking towards the direction of the store's comfort room.

But Camandero thought that the woman was just having her monthly period.

But, Chief Insp. Rhea Santos, Molo police chief, suspects that the woman could be responsible for leaving behind the fetus in the garbage can.

She said the fetus is about 2-3 months old.

Meanwhile, another fetus was found in a rubbish dump at Brgy Calajunan, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

Chief Inspector Efren Lozada, Mandurriao police chief, said that a scavenger found the male fetus at around 8:00 a.m.

The pile of garbage was gathered from the areas of Arevalo, Iloilo City and Oton town in Iloilo province.

Lozada said that it was only the third fetus found at the dumpsite this month.*
