All faculty members of Iloilo City Community College passed three Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) National Competency level II (NC II) for tour guiding, travel and front office services.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog, ICCC president and chairman of Board of Trustees commended the commitment and dedication of ICCC’s teaching force to quality public education in the metropolis.
He said the TESDA recognition is a clear manifestation of the competent and skilled ICCC teaching personnel.
The faculty members are Dr. Harold F. Cartagena, Mary June G. Mayordomo, Susan Barbara R. Donato, John Erwin P. Pedroso, Rezlie T. Lavalle and Romer S. Gobuyan and Dean Catalina R. Sanico.
They underwent written, oral and hands-on assessments to test their knowledge, skills and values in the different fields of specialized areas of TESDA’s tourism sector during the examination held at Trent Information First Career Institute (TIFTCI) TESDA Assessment Center, Taytay, Rizal, Oct. 23-25.
The faculty took the tests to upgrade their proficiencies to teach subjects related to Bachelor in Science courses Office Administration and Travel Management.
This is in line with ICCC vision and mission to respond to the needs of a progressive city for skilled workforce. They trained themselves with the help of industry players and private partners Skyways Travel and Tours, Grand Hotel and I-Guides.
ICCC also aims to implement the ladderization of its curriculum in accordance with Commission on Higher Education and TESDA standards by school year 2013-2014 to benefit its financially-disadvantaged students.
Thus, ICCC faculty will take the next course of action to qualify the Trainers Methodology (TM II) and Assessors Methodology (AM II). *JVF/ Iloilo City PIO
