KALIBO, Aklan – The public should stay away from the extreme heat of the sun and drink plenty of water to avoid getting sick this summer, warned Department of Health (DOH).
"They should also avoid eating excessively especially as summer is also the time for fiestas, because the extreme heat can also cause indigestion," said Dr. Elepoldo Magpusao, DOH-Aklan Provincial Health Team leader.
Magpusao said among common diseases caused by the hot weather are coughs and colds, skin and food allergies, and strokes.
To strengthen the body's immune system against diseases, Magpusao advised the public to eat more fruits and vegetables and refrain from eating heavy foods.
"Heavy foods, such as meat, are harder to digest," Magpusao said.
Attributing the extreme hot weather being experienced in all parts of the country to Climate Change, Magpusao also advised the people to drink plenty of water to avoid suffering from dehydration.*PIA
