28 illegal fishers nabbed in Guimaras

10 fishing boats impounded

JORDAN, Guimaras - Nine fishing boats used in poaching on Guimaras waters were seized and 28 of their crew members apprehended by the composite team of the provincial Bantay Dagat and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the municipality of Buenavista over the weekend.

On Monday, a 30-minute sea chase by Bantay Dagat and police operatives also resulted in the apprehension of a boat unlawfully fishing in the municipal waters of Nueva Valencia.

Arrested were MB 3 Kings owner, Ramir Quinonez, and his crew Jose Tayapac, Reman de los Pobres, and Jason Iwanan, all from the province of Negros Occidental.

The detained fishermen, all of 32 are currently awaiting formal charges to be filed against them.*PNA
