ROXAS CITY, Capiz – If approved, the Roxas City Airport will undergo improvements to accommodate aircrafts during nighttime as well as help decongest the air traffic in Metro Manila airports.
One of the improvement revealed DOTC Secretary Mar Roxas is the installation of night-rated facility to accommodate aircrafts during nighttime.
Roxas, who was with NAIA General Manager Jose Angel Honrado during the installation of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas new office here, said they are now considering the putting up of night-rated facility in order to decongest the traffic in the runway in Manila airports, particularly at the NAIA terminals.
He stressed that so far, the country has 86 airports, 44 of which have commercial flights and 21 of these airports, including Roxas City, experience passenger traffic.
With the Roxas City airport to be equipped with facility and technology such as runway lights to operate even at night time, more will be coming to Capiz, he said.
Roxas said that he had earlier sent a team here to inspect, evaluate and present recommendations in line with the needs of at the airport terminal here.
As recommended, he said, they are now undergoing a program of work for the modernization of the terminal building of Roxas City airport.
Roxas revealed that the airport in Roxas City is one of the most well-equipped in navigation technology and one with the longest runways in the country.*PIA
