E-mail Print PDF

Two heritage buildings in this city are currently undergoing restoration that was jointly initiated by the private sector, Iloilo Cultural Heritage Foundation, Inc. and the Iloilo City Cultural Heritage Conservation Council.

The restoration of the two old buildings of the S. Villanueva along the Central Business District or Calle Real is their first project costing P3 million.

The first building occupied by the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) is worth P2 million while the other building across is worth P1 million.

The buildings have an Art Deco architecture which was dominant in the western countries during the prewar years.

Coincidentally, the two buildings are also part of the tourist destinations that were also included in his bill that identified various attractions in the city to be funded by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).*PNA
