I grew up in a place where the four corners of our town is protected by mountains. Every morning, the scene of their green peaks peeking through the fogs never fail to make me think about how beautiful the world is. Dividing the scenic mountains is a river that runs through the villages as if touching them and giving them life on its way.
When the life in the city gets demanding I long for the refuge that the valleys could give me. There is something sacred about the mountains that sucks the bad vibes out of you and replace it with relaxing energy that is almost cleansing.
There are things that when you get to realize, you value them and let them be a part of you. Some fortunate people get to experience and be aware of it. However, some people just let it pass by them. Why do people travel to this faraway beaches, resorts and islands? There is this unexplainable urge to be connected with nature, some people would say. And luckily for them they are aware of their oneness with nature.
Every time we see a beautiful place it takes our breath away. It's a lot like love. But when you love something would you want to lose them?
What if mountains could feel the pain every time the fangs of the machines hit its heart? What if fishes could talk and protest for their right not to be fed with minerals? What if birds could sing tunes revolting the destruction of their homes? What if that one small thing that you did today could cause one huge thing that you love to perish? Wait, that is not a what if anymore.
When you bore a hole on a mountain, you also bore a hole on the life of the beings that depend on it. You destroy the natural order of things. One by one, till it collapses. Your greed will not only devour you, it will eventually devour the society too.
We all have felt how I feel gazing at the scenic mountain view every morning. We even search for that feeling sometimes. We all love to see a beautiful place. We all are tourists.
