If proven guilty for negligence, the nightclub security guards involved during a shooting incident that resulted to the death of a seaman early this month may not only face the revocation of their license but their security agency's permit as well.
Chief Superintendent Cipriano Querol Jr., Police Regional Office 6 director recently ordered for an investigation on the liability of the duty guards and the security agency over the killing of Glenn Lasafin inside Aura Chillout Lounge on May 10.
Querol already directed the Security Agencies and Guards Unit (SAGU) to investigate the said guards for possible negligence, adding that the incident could be prevented if the duty guards frisked or inspected the costumers before entering the establishment.
"The incident could have been avoided had the guards observed due diligence in inspecting the costumers," he said.
It can be noted that the victim, Lasafin, 29, resident of Brgy. Quintin Salas, Jaro was shot to death while having a drinking spree inside the bar. Another man, Sante Norman Pampliega, 24, of Aurora Subdivision, Mandurriao was accidentally hit.
The suspect, Julian Silvederio, 22, who is now facing murder, used a .38 gun without license to shoot the victims.
During the incident, Silvederio was immediately arrested by security guards Leopoldo Vasquez, Abelardo Quirino, and John Horario all of Grand Royale Security Agency.
Presidential Decree No. 1866 or the Philippine Firearms Law prohibits bringing in of firearms inside public drinking places, cabarets, public dance halls and public amusement places, or while attending civic, political and religious rallies and meetings.
Police records also revealed that Silvederio was arrested for frustrated murder on March 20, 2008 and for robbery with homicide on Nov. 19, 2010.
The result of the investigation is expected to be released this week.*
