RBTHub’s free RBT practice exam: a guide to the 85-question form

Same publishing portfolio; not an independent review.

Use a practice attempt to gather specific study questions—not to label yourself ready from a percentage. This guide separates the free form, its review tools and its limitations.

Explanations, not a prediction

A free practice exam is useful only if you know what to do with the answers afterwards. RBTHub’s 85-question form is a straightforward place to make that kind of first attempt: no account, no card and no purchase required to see the explanations. You can use its optional timer or work without a countdown.

This guide follows the experience from opening the page to selecting a next study task. It is an education-resource feature, not a report about certification eligibility or employment in Iloilo or the Philippines. The publisher relationship is disclosed above. The focus here is the public tool’s documented workflow, its browser-saving limitations and the decisions a learner can make during review.

01

What you see before beginning the 85-question form

The destination identifies itself as an independent 85-question practice exam and offers an optional 90-minute timer before you begin. The page also explains that all 85 questions count toward this practice score. Do not confuse that scoring choice with the scoring system of an official examination or assume the questions are actual BACB items.

You will also see an optional Premium offer on the page. It is separate from the test: submitting your free attempt does not create a requirement to pay for the explanations. That separation makes it possible to inspect the style of answer review before considering any paid preparation product.

There is a separate 75-question study set elsewhere on RBTHub. If you intend to work on full-length pacing, make sure you are starting the 85-question form rather than assuming all pages labelled practice exam contain the same number of items. Choose the format before starting so your notes accurately describe what you attempted.

02

Choose conditions you will remember during review

Decide what you want to learn from the first run. If your question is how you manage a longer timed set, choose the timer and reserve time when you can focus. If you are using the questions as a study exercise, untimed mode may be more appropriate. Neither choice changes an independent practice percentage into a readiness diagnosis.

Write down the conditions in a sentence: whether you used notes, whether you were interrupted and whether the timer was enabled. This makes the result easier to interpret later. A stop-start evening attempt is different from an uninterrupted timed one, and comparing the two as if conditions were identical can be misleading.

For a timed attempt, remember that switching tabs or closing the page does not pause the running deadline. If you cannot reserve the block, choose your mode accordingly. Do not rely on leaving the page as a way to stop the clock while preserving a timed result.

03

Move, flag and return with the save status in view

Previous and Next controls let you move through the questions. The numbered navigator provides direct access to individual positions, and flags mark items you want to reconsider before finishing. Use a flag for a specific reason, such as uncertainty between two alternatives, rather than treating every flag as proof that the entire topic is weak.

Your attempt is stored in this browser when saving is available. Check the visible status before leaving, especially if you are interrupted. This is local site data, not an account backup: another device, a different browser profile or cleared site storage will not automatically restore the attempt. Private browsing can also discard its data when the private session ends.

Reloading a successfully saved attempt is different from clearing that data. Avoid assuming that every refresh erases all answers, but do not assume a selection is safely stored when the page reports a saving problem. Before submitting, use the navigator to inspect skipped and flagged positions.

04

Separate a missed answer from an unanswered question

When you finish, unanswered questions count as incorrect in the practice score. That arithmetic does not explain why they were left blank. A skipped item could reflect an unfamiliar concept, a distraction, an overlooked navigation position or running out of time. Record the reason while you can still remember the attempt.

Do the same for correct answers that were guesses. A total score alone puts a confident correct response and a lucky selection in the same column, but they need different follow-up. The interface cannot read your confidence; a flag or a brief personal note helps you preserve that context.

Use the result to collect observations rather than issue a verdict about yourself. “I confused two definitions in these questions” is something you can investigate. “I am bad at assessment” is too broad to guide the next visit. Keep domain patterns in view, but return to the actual wording before deciding what needs work.

05

Read the explanations for alternatives, not just the key

After finishing, the review provides the correct answer, its explanation, reasoning for each of the three alternatives and source references. The alternative-choice reasoning is particularly useful when your selected option was not absurd; it may describe something valid that does not fit the detail being asked about.

For each question you decide to study, try this short routine:

  1. Read the question again before looking at the explanation.
  2. Name the detail you used to choose your answer.
  3. Compare that detail with the explanation’s reasoning.
  4. Write one distinction to check in the referenced material.

Include some uncertain correct answers in this review, not only misses. You do not need to copy every explanation into a notebook. A short statement of the distinction, the question number and a source pointer is easier to revisit than a page of copied text. If a source or explanation seems unclear, keep that uncertainty explicit rather than treating the answer key as unquestionable authority.

06

Turn the review into one concrete next study block

Choose a recurring issue from your notes and define a task small enough to finish. Instead of planning to reread every guide, identify the concept you confused, open the relevant explanation or domain guide and work through a different example. The aim is to understand a distinction rather than remember which letter appeared beside an answer.

RBTHub groups guides and questions across its six content domains. Those resources give you somewhere to go after the result page. Flashcards or SAFMEDS cards may be useful for terminology you could not recall, while a worked guide is a different option when you recognise the words but cannot explain the choice.

An immediate retake can help revisit material, but it is not an independent check of unfamiliar questions. Label it honestly as a repeat. Before another longer attempt, preserve one next action and a reason for it; that turns a completed test into a study sequence rather than another percentage to chase.

07

Keep the free test and the optional paid plan distinct

The 85 questions and their explanations remain free. The separate 30-Day RBT Prep Pass is documented at $19 paid once, without automatic renewal. Its role is to add structure: ten fixed 85-question, 90-minute mocks, a separate 205-question drill pool, an exam-date-aware plan, Today’s session, a daily checklist and saved follow-up work.

The paid product also has mistake review, bookmarks, weak-domain practice and supported Skill repair lessons with delayed checks. These are not features to assume are included in the anonymous public attempt. Public flags and same-browser saving do not create an authenticated Premium account or a cross-device record.

Consider the Pass if that continuity and planning fits your available study time. You can also continue with the free guides and other practice without buying anything. RBTHub is not a BACB service, and neither the free test nor the paid plan promises a pass or supplies an official readiness threshold.

Before you choose your next step

The result of a useful first attempt is more than a number: it is a small set of specific questions about what you understood, what you guessed and what needs another look. Choose your timer settings deliberately, check saving, review the alternatives and leave with one next action. This free form can support that process without registration. Its value depends on how you use the review, not on treating its percentage as a verdict about an upcoming exam.
